HOW TO USE PHOS- KLEEN B SURFACE PREP FLUID

Always wear suitable protective equipment when using Phos-Kleen B, it is an acid.

Rubber Gloves / Gauntlets

Eye protection/ goggles

Protective apron

Phos-Kleen B is a surface cleaner, Rust remover degreaser and phosphating solution for the treatment of steel surfaces prior to painting.

Phos-Kleen B is designed for use on flat surfaces of horizontal or vertical steel panels.

Apply Phos-Kleen B direct from the bottle using a Scotchbrite type of Nylex abrasive pad. Work in a circular motion into the steel work. Do not allow Phos-Kleen B to pool on horizontal surfaces.

When dry Phos-Kleen B will have turned the steel a grey colour and the surface will be slightly rougher than before. Any rust within the pits will have produced a nib on the surface as the Phos-Kleen B has reacted with it these will need treating as follows

You now need to wash this surface to remove any dried surface salts using again a scotchbrite nylex abrasive and fresh clean di-ionised water or better still Rustbuster Chlor-X DTS

As soon as the washed surface is dry it is ready to paint. It is always best to prime the same day as the final cleaning treatment.

Rusty’s top tip

Don’t be tempted to apply too mush Phos-B, allowing it to pool on horizontal surfaces is going to result in white deposits on the steel when dry,

this will then have to be removed as it could interfere with adhesion of the primer coat.
